Objective

  • Give infielders an opportunity to develop an initial first step.
  • Become familiar with proper angles to the baseball

Equipment

  • Baseballs (2 - 3)
  • Glove

Description

  • Position players 10-15 feet apart.
  • The feeder rolls a ball 6-8 feet to one side of partner.
  • The infielder's initial movement is back and over to receive the ball either in a backhand or forehand position.
  • The ball is then flipped underhand to the feeder as the infielder returns to the starting position.

Tips

  • As the feeder, deliver the baseball with a consistant pace allowing the infielder to concentrate on footwork.
  • Provide enough time for the infielder to set-up after each repitition.
  • The baseball must be received behind the initial starting point of the infielder to compensate for the drop step.
