Objective

  • Base runner must be able to decide when to advance to second base on a ball hit to the outfield.

Equipment

  • Baseballs
  • Gloves
  • Fungo

Description

  •  The entire team is placed in their defensive positions.
  • The base runner starts at home plate waiting for the coach to hit the ball into the outfield.
  • The base runner makes a read rounding first base whether or not to head to second base.
  • The outfielders make the play to second base.

Tips

  • The base runners should error on the side of being thrown out at second base. They will begin to understand what is a double and what isn’t.
