Objective

  • Aquire directional movements
  • Instill movement towards the ball
    Provide correct sequencial footwork

Equipment

  • One baseball per pair of athletes.
  • Gloves

Description

  • In partners, position players 6-10 feet apart.
  • The feeder holds the ball in one hand straight out in front. The infielder moves his throwing foot in the direction of the baseball.
  • The feeder moves the ball from one side to another while the infielder follows the ball leading with their throwing leg at all times.

Tips

  • Establish three positions with the baseball: center, left, and right. Clearly position the ball to one of these three locations.
  • Increase the speed of the drill
  • Move from right side directly to the left side, skipping the center. This increases the range of movement.
