Objective

  • Gain quick hands through proper hip and shoulder movements
  • Gain quick feet through proper movement and timing
  • Give players an opportunity to practice receiving the ball to the side of their body for a quicker transfer to the throwing position.

Equipment

  • Gloves
  • 1-2 Baseballs
  • Cones

Description

  • Position players into two lines approximately 20 feet apart. As the ball is approaching, next player in line moves their feet to get into a throwing position.
  • Player receives the ball, circles hands, transfers the ball from the glove to throwing hand and releases to the next player in line as quickly as possible.
  • Each ball must travel to the end and back twice. The first team to accomplish this wins.
  • If a ball is misplayed, it must return to the player who threw it before it can go to the next player in line (see video 2).

Tips

  • Emphasize to players to throw the ball to the middle of their partner's chest.
